Technology - photo essay

Technology - photo essay

Is this real life or is it just virtual fantasy?

An elderly couple engaged in their mobile phone, something that
was introduced to them in their later life.
Strength- the subject is still and the phone is in view
Improvement- move more towards the right so the subject's faces
are more in view.

Completing homework whilst also using technology
something the latest generation has become accustom too.
Strength- the message is portrayed well
Improvement- I could of used a deeper depth of field.

Watching his screen rather then the passing world.
Strength- I clearly used the rule of thirds
Improvement- got more in frame, i.e. the sign was in the
photo.

Pushing your child around all day, worthy of a quick
phone break?
Strength- it portrays the message really well.
Improvement- taken the picture closer
so it wasn't as pixelated.

Refreshing drink whilst refreshing your news feed.
Strength- well positioned
Improvement- I could adjust the colouring of it
to highlight the detail.

Walking down the street alone, could this be a
business call or a social one?
Strength- used the rule of thirds
Improvement- Take the photo closer in so it is not
as grainy.

Distraction or helpful? Completing homework whilst
listening to music.
Strength- Successfully used the burn tool
Improvement- take the photo from a higher angle

Updating her partner at home or updating her
status? A modern day question.
Strength- used the rule of thirds
Improvement- still use the rule of thirds but position
the subject to the left.

Three wise monkeys, or three brainwashed by
technology?
Strength- portrays the message
Improvement- move to the right so the pole is not
in the image.

Its illegal to drive whilst using your mobile, should it
also apply to pushing your new-born in a pram?
Strength- portrays my message really well and is
very clear.
Improvement- move to the right so the rule of
thirds is positioned better.

Business or pleasure? Store holder wrapped
in her phone.
Strength- used the rule of thirds
Improvement- I could try and edit the pole out
of the image using Photoshop.

Stopping in the street, holding up the crowd
to check their latest notification.
Strength- a close up shot which I did not do much during
my series of photographs
Improvements- move more to the right to get the
faces of my subjects in the image.

Quick pit stop, resting your legs but moving your thumbs.
Strength- portrays my message well.
Improvement- take the photograph from the opposite angle so
I get the subjects faces in the image.

Bored on the job?
Strength- uses the rule of thirds
Improvement- take the photo closer up so
it is not as pixelated.

Young girl engaged on her phone, oblivious to
her surroundings.
Strength- rule of thirds, and portrays the message
Improvements- take a clear image, or change the
levels in Photoshop to produce a sharper picture.

A recurring pattern with our students.
Strength- supports my message and is different
from many of the others I took.
Improvement- not be as close with the photo so
more detail and background is in the shot.

Forgetting to look left and right when crossing
the road, hung up in her mobile phone.
Strength- rule of thirds
Improvement- stand in a different position so the
lighting helps produce a better image.

There's always one in the crowd who is in
their own world.
Strength-
Improvement- move more to the right so my subject
is clearly the centre of the image.

Stopping mid walk to get a closer look at the small
virtual screen.
Strength- portrays image
Improvements- change my position so the
lighting helps improve the image.

Eyes on the work, hears on the music.
Strength- I change the image to black and white
Improvement- change the levels of the image so the
screen is lighter.
